Church Planting

HFC has been focusing on establishing churches in the Metro Portland area. Currently there is a network of five Spanish language churches spread from Gresham to West Portland.

These churches contain members from Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Cuba and many other Latin American countries.

HFC provides organizational assistance, leadership training, vision casting and financial assistance in some cases.

HFC is currently working on planting new churches in Vancouver (WA), Hillsboro and Salem.

Training

HFC in partnership with the North American Baptist Conference and Northwest Conservative Baptist Association conducts a Hispanic leadership institute at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon.

HFC also conducts various retreats throughout the year for Hispanic church leaders as well as seminars for missions minded believers at Missions Fest NW each year.

In the field we take the training to the church planters. We use a variety of resources with a “menu” approach to provide contextualized coaching to church planters across the Americas, from Canada to Argentina.

Funding

The current funding for Hispanics for Christ comes from the following sources:
  1. Churches – both English speaking congregations and Spanish are
    contributing to this work.
  2. Grants – North American Baptist Conference has been a valued partner.
  3. Missions Organizations – D.A.W.N.
  4. Individuals

The organization works out of an office provided by The Table: A Christian Community (in North Portland), and currently has two paid staff positions. Overhead costs are minimal.

HFC is registered in Oregon as a Non-Profit Religious Organization and is able to provide a receipt for tax deductible donations.

What Can I Do to Help?

There are several things you can do to help us in our ministry:
  1. Contact us with information about English language churches interested in hosting a Hispanic congregation.
  2. Prayer for ministry among Hispanics at home and in Latin America.
  3. Consider us in your missions giving both personally and congregationally.
